250 recruits join Air Force

High-Flying:Air Vice-Marshal G.P. Sharma, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Meteorology), IAF, presents a trophy to an Airman at the passing out parade in Tambaram on Friday.

TAMBARAM: A total of 250 young men joined the Indian Air Force as Airmen after a passing out parade in Tambaram on Friday.

Air Vice-Marshal G.P. Sharma, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Meteorology) reviewed the parade and addressed the newly inducted Airmen at Tambaram Station of IAF. He also handed over awards to those Airmen who had excelled in academics and sports. After completing their basic training, the recruits had come to Tambaram to be trained at Mechanical and Workshop Training Institutes at IAF Station, Tambaram for 24 weeks.

Sanjeev Kumar and Manendra Singh from Mechanical and Workshop Training Institute respectively received the Best All-Rounder Trophies.

Dance performance

At the end of the parade, Airmen trainees who would soon be completing their training, presented a traditional dance from Mizoram and a display of aerobics. An aeromodelling demonstration was also conducted on the occasion.

In his address, Air Vice-Marshal Sharma said the operational efficiency of IAF depended on administrative and maintenance support. He also urged the Airmen to be aware of the changes and also to maintain an exemplary conduct throughout their career.

Nine Airmen from Sri Lankan Air Force who had completed training, also received their certificates.
