Freedom fighters remembered

HAVERI: Students from various educational institutions on Friday took out a procession here to commemorate the sacrifice made by freedom fighters Mailar Mahadev, Tirukappa Madivalar and Iraiah Hiremath.
The district unit of the Students Federation of India had organised the ‘Hutatma Jyoti Yatre'. The three freedom fighters were killed in firing by the army while protesting against British rule.
The procession began from Mailar Mahadev Circle and concluded at the Veera Soudha, where the grandchildren of Mailar Mahadev and Narendra welcomed it.
Writers Mohan Nagammanavar and Satish Kulkarni participated.
