We look at going it alone later: Premalatha

NAMAKKAL: Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder Vijayakant's wife and party leader Premalatha said here on Saturday that the DMDK was determined to contest independently sometime in the future and make him the Chief Minister. But, as of now, the DMDK's alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was strong.

“It is only six years since the party was founded and we have witnessed its growth over the years,” Premalatha said, adding “a lot of ground work should be done to make the DMDK self-reliant”. On when this would happen, Premalatha said it could happen anytime. She expressed confidence that Vijayakanth would be the best Chief Minister the State had ever seen.

On the allotment of Murasu symbol for independent candidates contesting in constituencies other than where DMDK was contesting, Premalatha expressed concern that it would definitely affect the votes that should be polled by candidates of the AIADMK and its allies.
