Cash seized from vehicle at Bodinayakkanur

THENI: The static surveillance team seized Rs.2.55 lakh during a vehicle checks at Bodinayakkanur here on Saturday as the owner could not produce documents for the cash.

A case has been filed against V. Varkees, supervisor in a private company at Kozhikode. The cash was handed over to Bodi town police station.

The team also raided a TASMAC shop at Kadamalaigundu and found illegal possession of 100 bottles of liquor and seized them. They arrested K. Selvam (36) of Kadamalaigundu and S. Maiparai of Thangammalpuram. A case has been registered under section 4 (1) (a) of TNP Act. Collector A. Karthik ordered departmental action against them. He warned that stern action would be initiated against TASMAC workers who violated election norms.

Cases registered

Two cases – one against CPI (M)'s K. Balabarathi and another against PMK candidate Paul Baskar – were filed in Dindigul police station for violating Code of Conduct.
