Trinamool candidate's car found damaged

Chapra (WB): The car of Rukbanur Rahman, Trinamool Congress candidate for the Chapra Assembly seat in Nadia district, was found damaged on Saturday.

Rukbanur, the brother of computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rehman, alleged that it could be the handiwork of the CPI(M) or the Jan Lok Satta candidate, Akilur Rahaman, his uncle.

“The side window and the rear of the Tata Qualis was found smashed this morning,” he said.

CPI(M) candidate Samsul Islam Molla denied the charge and said it could be the outcome of intra-party rivalry in the Trinamool Congress.

Rukbanur said his uncle, who had arrived from Kolkata on Friday, was campaigning with a photograph of Rizwanur, whose body was found mysteriously beside railway tracks on September 21, 2007 a month after his marriage to the daughter of industrialist Ashok Todi.
