Report sought on police official's rude behaviour

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: Taking a serious view of the alleged rude behaviour of a police officer towards a victim of theft in front of the police station in Wyra on Thursday, senior police officers of the State have sought a detailed report into the incidents.

The incident has evoked an outcry from various dalit organisations which staged a massive protest demonstration in front of the police station on Thursday evening alleging that the CI concerned kicked M Prasad, a victim of theft, during a dharna by the latter in front of the police station in Wyra.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police Kanti Rana Tata late in the night demanding action against Wyra CI Sadaniranjan.

Sources said that some of the representatives of the dalit organisations have reportedly approached the State Human Rights Commission seeking its intervention to ensure justice to the victim of theft.

When contacted, Mr Kanti Rana Tata said that a detailed inquiry is being conducted into the incident according to the directions from the police higher-ups.
