Srinath delighted

Bangalore: India's World Cup triumph on Saturday night had Javagal Srinath wearing a smile and helped him exorcise the ghosts of the past.

In 2003, Srinath was part of the Indian team that lost the World Cup final to Austalia by 125 runs at Johannesburg. “Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan were part of that team too. For players like me, the victory on Saturday helped us realise our dreams,” Srinath said.

The former Indian spearhead said that in the cycle of cricket, India has gone up.

“In the 2003 final we were as strong as the Australian team but now this Indian team is stronger than the other teams, there is a gap between us and the other teams and that makes this squad very special,” Srinath said. — Special Correspondent
