Faria's takes the honours

VIJAYAWADA: Hyderabad's Faria's garnered 84 points to top the table in the super league of team of four duplicate segment while Indian Home Stores finished second with 81 points in the Vijayawada Open bridge tournament that concluded here on Sunday. Gudivada Club (75) and Simran (71) took the third and fourth places respectively.

In the duplicate progressive round, Jagannath of Orissa and Hyderabad Club took the first two places.

Girinath slams ton

Kurnool District Cricket Association defeated Pullareddy Engineering College by 57 runs in match played at Kurnool on Sunday. S. Girinath's 110 run for KDCA was the highlight of the match.

The scores: KDCA 195 for nine in 30 overs (S. Girinath 110, Siva Manjit three for 32) bt Pullareddy Engineering College 138 in 26.5 overs (P.V. Sharan Babu 33) .

Netball Nationals

Vijayawada will host the 24th junior National netball championship from April 24 to 28 at IGMC stadium here in which 26 boys' and 26 girls' teams will participate, said the Krishna District Netball Association president M. Narasimha Chowdary on Sunday. The tournament will be conducted on four courts in a league-cum-knockout basis. “The tournament is conducted with an estimated budget of Rs.26 lakhs,” he added.
