Bottle filled with petrol hurled

MADURAI: Unidentified persons hurled an empty liquor bottle filled with petrol in front of the residence of an AIADMK functionary at Jaihindpuram here on Sunday evening and fled the scene.

According to police, Kumar, 63rd ward secretary of the AIADMK is residing in Netaji Street, 7th cross street Jaihindpuram. A couple of days ago, he is said to have informed the police that some DMK men are planning to distribute money to the voters in the locality. The officials had assured to keep a check on the offence and take action.

Meanwhile, as the news of the incident spread, the AIADMK cadre in the locality demanded the arrest of the DMK councillor as they suspected him to be behind the crime. A large posse of police personnel rushed to the spot. Further investigation is on.
