Sevilla moves up to fifth

Madrid: Sevilla moved up to fifth place in the Spanish football League on Sunday with a 3-1 home defeat of Zaragoza, thanks to two second-half penalties.

Diego Perotti opened the scoring for Sevilla two minutes from half time by turning in a perfect low centre from Jesus Navas. Two minutes into the second-half, Zaragoza's Jiri Jarosik made it 1-1 with a header. But in the 56th minute, veteran Frederic Kanoute restored Sevilla's lead with a penalty after Martin Caceres had been pulled down by Leonardo Ponzio. Alvaro Negredo made it 3-1 in the injury time with another penalty. Sevilla now has 45 points from 30 games, which is nine fewer than fourth-placed Villarreal, but two more than sixth-placed Espanyol.
