Senior Superintendent of Police (law and order) Atul Katiyar addressing new patrol team in Puducherry on Monday . PUDUCHERRY: The territorial police on Monday launched a special 90-member team with 10 patrol vehicles to ensure quick response to public calls. The teams would function directly under the Central Police Control Room at the police headquarters. Vigil According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Atul Katiyar, the teams would undertake round-the-clock vigil to ensure timely response to complaints. Each of the 10 patrol vehicles would consist of three policemen and one driver working in three shifts. They would be given weapons and powers to act independently and respond to situations. Mr. Katiyar said that the team would also help in maintaining peace during elections. The inspector in-charge of the control room had been instructed to monitor movements of all the 10 patrol vehicles and to attend to calls from the public as swiftly as possible.
