TDP to name its candidate in a day or two Congress to target Jagan as BJP sympathiser HYDERABAD: Congress party has narrowed down its choice of candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat between Health Minister D. L. Ravindra Reddy and former MLA N. Varadarajulu Reddy. The party is likely to finalise the name by Wednesday afternoon after another round of meeting – a follow-up of the one convened by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday with APCC chief D. Srinivas, Ministers – Kanna Lakshminarayana, D.L. Ravindra Reddy, Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, and Md. Ahmedullah. Sources said that the name of Mr. Kandula Rajamohan Reddy also figured in the discussions, if he agreed to join the Congress. He is a former politburo member of the TDP who has been keeping a distance from the party. The Congress has already decided to pit Agriculture Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy against his sister-in-law Vijayamma from Pulivendula. He will file his nomination papers on April 16. The Telugu Desam Party is likely to announce the names of its candidates for the by-elections to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies in a day or two. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu held a wide-ranging meeting with leaders from the district on Tuesday evening. The names of Rajya Sabha member M.V. Mysoora Reddy, Kandula Rajamohan Reddy, and former MLC Putta Narasimha Reddy are doing the rounds for Kadapa Lok Sabha while those of local leaders B.Tech Ravi and Kandula Sivananda Reddy are being considered for Pulivendula Assembly seat, according to sources. Sources said the Congress party campaign would be spearheaded by AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi, and the Chief Minister. The party may target Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as a BJP sympathiser for his close association with the Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. Mutual appreciation by YSR Congress chief and the TRS leaders will also form part of the poll campaign.
