Google gets Indian map wrong

Special Correspondent

Jammu and Kashmir removed from Indian map

Till yesterday, the website had the correct map

HYDERABAD: Users of Google Analytics were in for a shock on Tuesday when the popular website put up an incorrect map of India on one of its pages. Google, which offers various web services free of cost, appears to have decided that Jammu and Kashmir is not part of India and had removed the State from the map.

Google Analytics (GA) is a service which offers detailed statistics about visitors to the website.

Website managers who register themselves with GA keep repeatedly visiting the GA page to get data about geographical location of the visitors in addition to other details of the visitors.

In the country/terrirtory detail section of the overview page, the Indian map has been shown incorrectly.
