SINGAPUR (KARIMNAGAR DT): In the wake of suspicions about the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the alleged fraud and bogus voting, the students of Kamala Institute of Technology and Sciences (KITS) in Singapur village have innovated novel Advanced Electronic Voting Machines (AEVMs) to check all kinds of irregularities and ensure transparent voting. Functioning The new Advanced EVM is so designed that it would give acknowledgement to the voter about which party he or she voted by displaying the symbol on the LCD monitor and also check the malpractices by allowing the voters to use EVM only with the given unique ID number and finger impression. Engineering final students of ECE group of the KITS College under the team leadership of P. Shalini, K. Sumanth, Ch. Pranay, M. Sowjanya and under the guidance of Y. Gouri and E. Pradeep have designed this novel and model Advanced EVM to remove fears of voters. Other than the voter, no one can operate the EVM and it would not respond but also alert the polling officer about the malpractice. The Advanced EVM is designed in such a way that the polling officer can see the photo of the voter on his computer monitor and also scrutinise details relating to his age, family details, address etc. The students said that during the elections the authorities could use laptop instead of a desktop. These students, who are part of the Young hearts foundation (YHF), a social service organization in the collegesaid they were inspired by the Telugu movie “Leader”. They also said that they would apply for the patent rights soon.
