NARSARAOPET: Chief Conservator of Forests P. Bhaskar Reddy and DFO P. Srinivasa Sastry inspected the Kondaveedu fort development works taken up on the land belonging to the Forest Department here on Wednesday. A ghat road is being laid from Kothapalem foothill to the historic fort's eastern side in 37 acres given by the Forest Department, for which an equal extent of alternative land fit for afforestation was shown at Akkayapalem village in Bollapalli mandal by Narsaraopet revenue division officer K. Sreenivasulu. Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee convenor K. Siva Reddy explained the fort development activities, including laying of the ghat road, to Mr. Bhaskar Reddy who promised to extend full cooperation. Mr. Bhaskar Reddy went around the fort and discussed what the Forest Department could do to help the district administration fully tap the tourism potential. He was impressed by the six temples located within the fort premises, granaries, magazines etc of the magnificent structure which was built by the kings of the Reddy dynasty and the three tanks named Mutyalamma, Puttalamma, and Vedulla Cheruvulu. Mr. Siva Reddy said the ghat road would facilitate hassle-free visits of the fort by tourists who can bask in its natural beauty and grandeur. Financial support of those interested in protection of heritage buildings was sought.
