BANGALORE: A three-day convention of the Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha will be held at Sri Kshetra Suttur in Nanjangud taluk of Mysore district from April 17. Conferences of industrialists, agriculturists, women, social organisations, youth, and religious leaders will be the focus of the 22nd convention that is being held after 19 years. Eminent personalities from various fields will participate in the convention and discuss issues plaguing society. Chairperson, reception committee, and MLC Thontadarya told presspersons here on Wednesday that the convention was aimed at consolidating members of the Veershaiva community from across the country. Over 5 lakh people, including over 10,000 delegates, are expected to participate in the convention. He said as Veerashaiva was the majority community in the State, it was serving every section of society and the convention would discuss ways to work for the welfare of society. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the conference and mahasabha president Bheemanna Khandre will preside over the inaugural function. Seers of various Veerashaiva maths will attend the meet.
