Selection of voting machines for Ariyalur, Jayamkondam over

Collector T.K.Ponnusamy reviewes the activity along with Observers


ARIYALUR: The second phase booth-specific selection of EVMs by randomisation for Ariyalur and Jayamkondam Assembly constituencies was completed on Friday at the Sennthurai taluk office.

District Collector T.K.Ponnusamy reviewed the activity along with Ashok Kumar Gupta, Election Observer (General), Dileep Kumar, Observer (Expenditure), and Jitendra, Police Observer.

In a press release, the Collector said that the selection was taken up in the presence of candidates and their representatives.

The details of EVMs allotted to each booth were given to the returning officers. A total of 266 booths are in Ariyalur constituency and 253 booths in Jayamkondam constituency. The District Revenue Officer Pitchai and other senior officials were present.

In the first phase, the EVMs were randomised for the two Assembly constituencies.

The second phase pertains to random allotment of EVMs to booths.

Another statement said that names of candidates and symbols for Jayamkondam Assembly constituency were uploaded in EVMs at the office of the Revenue Divisional Officer, Udayarpalayam, in the presence of the candidates and their representatives.

The list was uploaded in EVMs to be despatched to the 253 booths and an additional 38 EVMs constituting 15 per cent spare.

The district administration has also announced that a special initiative would be carried out through block-level officers on April 10 to issue voter slips to those who had been left out of the exercise carried out on April 5 and 6.Voter slips have so far been issued to 86 per cent of the electorate in Ariyalur Assembly segment and 90 per cent in Jayamkondam.
