Six armed men snatch gun from security guard

Bangalore: Six armed men barged onto the premises of a factory at Sulibele in Bangalore Rural district in the early hours of Friday and snatched a double barrel breech loading (DBBL) gun from the security guard, Govindan, who was injured during the incident Sulibele police said the robbers entered Govind Flores Pvt. Ltd. at Thilikunte industrial area and committed the crime.

Blue kerosene seized

City Crime Branch (CCB) police officials unearthed a racket in the illegal sale of blue kerosene by raiding a warehouse here on Thursday and arrested a man in this connection.

The blue kerosene, meant for the public distribution system (PDS) at a subsidised rate, had been shorn of its immediately identifiable colour using chemicals.

A team of officials, attached to the Fraud and Misappropriation Squad, raided K.G.N. Oil Centre's warehouse at M.H. Complex on 100 ft Ring Road near Iliyas Nagar and confiscated 3,500 litres of fuel. The police have arrested Aslam Pasha Mohammed Shafiulla (31), a resident of Iliyas Nagar, and are investigating.

CCB sources told The Hindu the accused had been running the racket for many years and the raid followed a tip-off

Job hunter killed

A Pavagada resident who came to look for a job in the city died in a hit-and-run accident near City Market here Friday morning.

The City Market traffic police said Sadashivaiah (28) was mowed down by a Tamil Nadu Road Transport Corporation while crossing the road. The driver sped away.

Though the accident took place during peak hours, not one noted down the registration number of the bus, police said.

Injured dies

An unidentified woman, who appeared to be around 35 years and who was injured in a road accident on April 3, died in a private hospital here on Friday. According to the Vijayanagar traffic police, a speeding car mowed her down on the service road of the Ring Road near Vijayanagar at 9.45 p.m. The driver fled leaving the bus behind.
