Runaway girls rescued
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: Two minor girls found wandering aimlessly at the New Bus Stand here on Saturday were rescued by police personnel on patrol duty.
NGO
The girls were handed over to the home run by SAVE, a Tirupur-based NGO, for destitute children.
SAVE sources told reporters that the girls, identified as M. Ananthi and S. Janaki, hailed from Karaikudi.
Their fathers were employed as municipal sanitary workers at Karaikudi.
SAVE volunteers said that Ananthi decided to runaway from her house as she was beaten by her parents and hence, took her friend Janaki along with her to reach Tirupur. The girls decided to come to Tirupur as they knew someone in the city but forgot to carry their address with them, SAVE sources added.
Efforts were on to unite the girls with their respective parents.
Yoga session
A yoga session for 150 rescued child workers studying at various special schools run by SAVE, was held here on Saturday.
The training was meant to improve the health of the children.
Resource persons also took classes for them to tell the importance of education in one's life.
