Worker remains trapped in tunnel

VISAKHAPATNAM: The fate of loader operator Gopal Behera, who was trapped in a tunnel, was not known till Saturday evening as efforts to reach him continue to be hampered by falling boulders.

Gopal was trapped in the tunnel when the side wall caved in while digging was being done for underground crude storage at a hill near Scindia late on Thursday night.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) K. Atchuta Rao said that the rescue operations were continuing, but the falling boulders were hindering the operations.

He ruled out the possibility of more workers being trapped in the tunnel saying had that been the case, their relatives would have turned up by now.
