Passing out parade conducted

Tirupur: The passing out parade of the 49th batch of cadets from Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, was held with ceremonious grandeur on Saturday.

In all, 64 cadets from Standard XII graduated out of the school this year.

Air Commodore N. Santhosh, Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station at Sulur, while reviewing the majestic parade, called upon the students to carry forward the social values and personality developed during the Sainik School days in their adult life too.

He felicitated the 12 cadets from the school who had succeeded in clearing the entrance examination to the prestigious National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla, near Pune, this year.

Air Commodore Santhosh gave away proficiency prizes to cadets Kapila Harsha (English), M. Darwin Vignesh (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), B. Sivanand (Biology) and G. Sanjeev Sahitya (Computer Science).

K. Sarath Kumar was adjudged ‘Best Cadet in Academics', while S. Satheesh Kumar and Kapila Harsha walked away with the ‘Best Cadet in Sports and Games' and ‘Best All Rounder' titles, respectively.

The inter-house trophy, also called Cock House Trophy, was won by Chera House.

Wing Commander P. Ravikumar, who is the school headmaster, Colonel J.H. Samuel, former principal of the school, and Charles Eugine, senior master, were present.
