‘Consult RWAs before splitting MCD'

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Advocacy group People's Action has demanded that the Delhi Government consult residents' welfare associations before attempting to amend rules for splitting the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

“This falls within the ambit of the 74th Amendment. The Chief Minister should not take a decision without making a reference to the people,” said Sanjay Kaul, founder of People's Action.

Members of the RWA body, United Residents' Joint Action also expressed displeasure over the speed with which the entire proposal has been moving and sought a legitimate reason for the haste.
