Display land acquisition details: Vatti

VISAKHAPATNAM: Replying to the issue of apprehensions of villagers over land acquisition for a jetty and Petroleum, Chemical, Petrochemical Investment Region raised by Payakaraoopet MLA Golla Babu Rao at the District Review Committee meeting on Monday, district in-charge Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar directed that details of land to be acquired be displayed at gram panchayats and mandal revenue offices. Mr. Babu Rao said if the government land was available it should be acquired first. Officials said 5,000 acres was proposed to be acquired in the first phase for PCPIR.

MLC M.V.S. Sarma said a meeting was held on 13 issues but many of them were not being implemented.

The issue of alternative jetty to fishermen was always proving difficult. Mr. Vasant Kumar told Mr. Sarma that a Project Officer would be appointed to the Paderu ITDA in the next 15 days.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao wanted the Minister to see to it that Rs.100 crore towards JNNURM housing and Rs.322 crore for other projects due to the GVMC were released.

Major issues including VIMS, KGH, Victoria Hospital, land issues related to VUDA, project-affected people, Gambhiram and Meghadrigedd reservoirs would be included in the review meeting with the Chief Minister.

Gajuwaka MLA Ch. Venkatramaiah said a willing letter on a suitable site would be given soon to facilitate the construction of jetty for fishermen displaced by Gangavaram port. Mr. Vasant Kumar ordered that a report be submitted on the constructions allegedly in violation of CRZ norms at Yarada.

MLAs Tyanala Vijay Kumar, U.V. Ramana Murthy Raju, Mutyala Papa, P. Rameshbabu, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, Ramu Naidu, and K.V.N.S. Raju and MLCs Suryanarayana Raju and G. Srinivasulu Naidu, Municipal Commissioner V.N. Vishnu, VUDA Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar, and Joint Collector Pola Bhaskar participated.
