Court seeks GHMC response for ‘inaction' in laying road
Legal Correspondent
Petitioners say GHMC imposing condition of laying roads on citizens
HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was granted two weeks' time by the High Court to respond in the case of a writ petition filed by three residents of Patancheru questioning its action in insisting that the residents lay the road as a pre-condition for permission for construction of their house.
The writ petition was heard by Justice G. Rohini. M. Satyanarayana Rao and two others filed the writ contending inter alia that they had sought permission for constructing their house.
The GHMC granted permission only on condition that they would construct the road in front of the intended house.
The petitioner pointed out that the GHMC had undertaken the road work and stopped it at the relevant place due to litigation with the Wakf Board. It was contended that since the GHMC had failed to lay the road, it was imposing the said condition on the citizen without the authority of law.
