Food advisory panel meet
Staff Reporter
KAKINADA: Women, who apply for cooking gas connections under ‘Deepam' scheme, need not become members of self-help groups, but they must fulfil the requirements announced by the government, according to District Collector M. Ravi Chandra.
Addressing the district-level food advisory committee meeting here on Wednesday, Mr. Ravi Chandra advised the officials to verify the eligibility criteria of the applicants strictly while allotting the cooking gas connections. Referring to the priority, he said that first preference must be given to women from HIV-inflicted families, young widows and those who were suffering from prolonged illness. Mr. Ravi Chandra cautioned the gas dealers against insisting the beneficiaries on purchase of stove and other accessories along with the cooking gas cylinder connection.
