Asha workers told to be responsible

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: Expressing concern over declining rate of institutional deliveries in the district, Collector G.D. Aruna has instructed the Asha workers, ANMs and Anganwadi workers to play a responsible role to encourage institutional deliveries of pregnant women to protect the mother and child.

Participating at the National Rural Health Mission review meeting here on Wednesday, the Collector called upon the Asha, Anganwadi and ANMs to educate the pregnant mothers and others about the importance of delivering in the government hospitals.

She also informed them to ensure that the registrations of births and deaths were done properly.

She said that the women in the rural areas were suffering from anaemia and instructed the authorities concerned to ensure that they were given nutritional food and educate them about the importance of eating locally available leafy vegetables, etc.

The Collector also instructed the authorities to educate the people against the child marriages, which had become rampant in the rural areas.

DMHO Dr. Vishnumohan, district TB Control Officer Dr. Rajesham, and Deputy DMHO Dr. Shyamal Sukumar were present.
