Kolkata: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is the latest entrant in the list of ministers and political leaders alleged to have flouted the Election Commission's model code of conduct with a complaint being lodged against him for using a district circuit house for political purpose. “We have received an official complaint by a political party against Mr. Mukherjee about his using the government circuit house at Birbhum for political purpose. He reportedly held political meetings there on Tuesday,” said West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta on Wednesday. The EC's model code of conduct prohibits the use of government circuit houses for political purpose. Mr. Mukherjee had put up at the circuit house for a few hours on Tuesday after campaigning for his son Abhijit Mukherjee, who is the Congress candidate from the Nalhati Assembly constituency. Asked if any action would be taken, Mr. Gupta said: “The allegations are yet not proved and we are checking whether the meeting was political or not.”
