HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Collector Natarajan Gulzar on Wednesday directed revenue authorities to mark the boundaries in line with the full tank level of Gurramcheruvu in Chandrayanagutta following a report published in these columns on encroachments on the lake bed by land sharks. The Collector and GHMC Additional Commissioner, K. Dhananjaya Reddy, examined the encroachments at the water body and its environs of survey nos. 13, 304 and 62. Mr. Gulzar instructed that the FTL should be marked in coordination with the Irrigation Department and GHMC. The Hindu, in its report published in Wednesday's city edition, highlighted how land-grabbers were filling the tank bed with loads of boulders and mud. Bandlaguda Mandal Revenue Officer J. Srinivas said the lands abutting the lake were patta lands and hence cannot be used for any other purpose except for cultivation. “Naturally, building houses or making sites of the land for houses would be illegal,” he said. He maintained that soon officers of different government wings would jointly inspect lands surrounding the tank to ascertain facts about the encroachments. Majlis floor leader in the Legislative Assembly and Chandrayanagutta MLA, Akbaruddin Owaisi, too met the officials and brought to their notice the alleged encroachment of the land by some residents of the area.
