HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Fire Services Department will be organising a series of awareness programmes on the eve of Fire Safety Week from Thursday at different venues in twin cities to educate people on fire safety measures. Fire Safety Week is observed every year in memory of brave firemen killed while fighting blaze. Mock drills in high-rise buildings housing commercial establishments, awareness programmes in educational institutions, essay writing and painting competitions and other events have been planned, said Fire Services Department Director P. Venkateswar here on Tuesday. He said more focus would be laid on public interaction programmes to educate people on safety measures. As part of promoting the cause, pamphlets highlighting various reasons for increasing fire accidents would also be distributed. Minor fire Meanwhile, a minor fire engulfed the godown of a private company at IDPL Township in Balanagar on Tuesday. However, none was injured.
