Valuables seized, 67 arrested

Bangalore: Police stations coming under West Division of Bangalore City police have cracked 178 criminal cases during the last 45 days and recovered valuables worth Rs. 1.68 crore from 67 persons.

The arrested were allegedly involved in criminal offences such as extortion, chain snatchings, robbery, dacoity, house break-ins, vehicle and other thefts, City Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari said here on Wednesday.

The recovered goods include 2.37 kg gold ornaments, 27 kg silver articles, Rs. 60,000, 102 motorcycles, 10 three-wheelers, 11 cars and four laptops. Confiscated valuables were displayed at Central College Grounds on Wednesday.

Ex-serviceman held

Vijayanagar police arrested three men, including an ex-serviceman, for allegedly duping job aspirants here recently and seized Rs. 5.23 lakh worth gold jewellery, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from them.
