Chalukya utsav from May 28

BAGALKOT: The three-day Chalukya utsav will begin on May 28 at Aihole, Minor Irrigation and District In-charge Minister Govind Karjol has said.

Speaking to presspersons after a meeting of district-level officers on Wednesday, he said the Kannada and Culture department had released Rs. 50 lakh for this purpose and the organisers had collected Rs. 38 lakh.

A total of 14 different committees have been formed for the smooth conduct of the utsav. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would inaugurate the utsav and elected representatives and various dignitaries would be present.

Artists of national and international repute would be invited to perform during the utsav that would highlight the glorious history of Chalukya kings, he added.

P.C. Gaddigoudar, MP, MLAs Siddu Savadi, Veeranna Charantimath, M.K. Pattanshetty, Narayansa Bandage and Zilla Panchayat president Kavita Daddenavar were present.
