Five held for vehicle theft

Hassan: The police have arrested five people on charges of vehicle theft here. The arrested are Ravi alias Ravi Naika, Suresha, Manjanaika, Nijaguna and Dinesh Shetty.
The police arrested them from Hassan on Tuesday night and recovered the vehicle.
Superintendent of Police Amit Singh told presspersons on Wednesday that the culprits hired the vehicle in Bangalore to visit Dharmastala on April 2. After they reached Shantigrama in Hassan taluk, they assaulted driver Vijay Kumar and fled with the vehicle, a cell phone and Rs 2,100.
Mr. Singh said those arrested were involved in similar activities in the past.
They became friends when they were together in judicial custody in Sakaleshpura. The police are yet to trace Munivenkata Reddy, another accused in the case.
