Police Commissioner criticised

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy has criticised City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan for denying permission to take out a procession in connection with Hanuman Jayanti on Monday and said the police chief misused his magisterial powers in doing so.

Mr. Reddy told a press conference that Mr. Khan was permitting rallies according to his whims and fancies. The BJP could not understand why he did not permit Hanuman Jayanti procession while he allowed a rally to coincide with the foundation day of MIM right in front of Assembly last year.

Expressing the anguish of BJP over reports about struggles between members of Satya Sai Central Trust for supremacy, Mr. Reddy asked the government to depute a team of officials to study the situation at Puttaparthi. The BJP would meet Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in this regard.
