BANGALORE: Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has taken serious exception to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee's (KPCC) demand for the removal of its Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, and the Director of Bellary Medical College in connection with the postgraduate medical entrance exam scam. “I am disappointed and pained by the irresponsible statement made by a spokesperson of a national party about the senior officials of RGUHS,” said university Registrar D. Prem Kumar in a statement. KPCC spokesperson L. Hanumanthaiah had on Friday alleged that the VC and Registrar of RGUHS, and the Director of Bellary Medical College were “involved” in the entrance examination malpractice. Inquiry In fact, the university had taken the lead in initiating a police inquiry and appropriate disciplinary action, Mr. Kumar said. He added that none of the officials mentioned by the Congress spokesperson is implicated in the episode. He added that the RGUHS has been actively cooperating with the State Government and providing necessary information to place it before the High Court to ensure justice to the meritorious students and prevent the beneficiaries of the malpractice from taking any undue advantage.
