RR Dist. Collector warns land sharks

Staff Reporter

‘Stern action will be taken against those trying to encroach government lands'

“Boundaries will be demarcated and fencing erected to safeguard government properties,”

Plans have also been drawn to protect lakes from encroachers: V. Seshadri

HYDERABAD: Ranga Reddy district Collector V. Seshadri said that stern action would be initiated against those trying to encroach government lands.

Interacting with media persons after assuming charge here on Saturday, he said inspections would be conducted in coordination with other government agencies and residents' welfare associations to protect government lands from encroachers.

“We will first try to demarcate boundaries and later erect fencing to safeguard government properties,” he said.

Plans have also been drawn up to protect lakes from encroachers.

Beautification of lakes would be taken up in association with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), to attract visitors.

Referring to the ever increasing road accidents in the district, the Collector said the Road Safety Committee would conduct meetings regularly to identify accident-prone areas and initiate measures to avert such incidents. He said focus would be laid on delivering effective services to people.

“We are also planning to strengthen the monitoring system to improve services. A mechanism will be evolved soon to help people avail of more services through eSeva centres,” said Mr. Seshadri.

He said proposals pertaining to reorganisation of 46 mandals have already been sent to the State government.

“We are waiting for the government's response,” he explained.

Mr. Seshadri was Chittoor district Collector before he was transferred to Ranga Reddy district.

He had been the Joint Collector of the Ranga Reddy district between 2005 and 2008.
