Ten persons chosen for Dr. Channabasava Pattaddevaru Award Cultural troupes and folk artistes to perform during the inaugural event Bidar: The 12th death anniversary of Channabasava Pattaddevaru of Bhalki Hiremath will be observed from April 20 to 22 at Bhalki Channabasavashrama. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will inaugurate the event, Bharatiya Basava Balaga president Babu Wali told presspersons here on Monday. Anil Sindhe, R.C. Hallikeri, Chandrakanth Karadalli, Vaidya Basavaraj, Shivaling S. Dhavaleshwar, Jayadevappa Jainkeri, Sidramappa Kapalapur and Shivaraj Patil Antawar have been chosen for the Dr. Channabasava Pattaddevaru Award. Award The Sharana Shree award will be given to Neeraj Patil, C. Channabasavanna, S.R. Gunjal, Shashikala Jolle and Swarooptayi Birajdar of Kasar Sirsi. Balachandra Jayashetty, Shivanand Agasgere, Malashree Kanavi, Rajkumar Shambhu and Veeranna M. Padashetty will also be honoured, according to balaga member Shakuntala Beldale. Cultural troupes and folk artistes will participate in the inaugural procession. Moodnakadu Chinnaswamy has been selected to preside over the Sharana Sahitya Sammelana to be held on the inaugural day. Mahant Appa Swami of Ilkal; Karnataka State Law University Vice-Chancellor J.S. Patil; Minister Revu Naik Belamagi; N. Dharam Singh, MP; MLAs Ishwar Khandre and Rahim Khan; Maharashtra Basava Parishat president Amarnath Solpure, Basava scholar Ramzan Dargah, journalist Linganna Satyampet, and others will speak. On April 22, T.R. Chandrashekar from Hampi Kannada University will inaugurate a session on inequality and Basavanna. The former Minister Vaijanath Patil, writer Javare Gowda, and K.B. Shanappa, MP, will speak. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will felicitate young men and women who chose life partners outside their castes. Social activist Swami Aginvesh is expected to participate in the valedictory function.
