Breaking ground: Collector Smitha Sabharwal participating in ‘bhumi puja' for the construction of Revenue guesthouse along with outgoing Collector GD Aruna in Karimnagar on Monday. KARIMNAGAR: Collector Smitha Sabharwal participated in the “bhumi puja” along with outgoing Collector GD Aruna for the construction of Revenue guesthouse on the Collectorate office premises in Karimnagar on Monday. The guesthouse was coming up at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh and Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu and others had laid foundation stone recently. It is believed that the construction of Revenue guesthouse on the Collectorate office premises would further add woes to the existing ones. Already, the parking lot was allocated for the constructions of Police out-post at the Collectorate entrance forcing the vehicles to park on the roads leading to various offices. The construction of Registration office at the nursery area and the Revenue guesthouse would further add woes to the visitors of the Collectorate with the non-availability of parking areas for the vehicles and destruction of greenery around the premises. Some of the officials, who have been part of beautification of the Collectorate office premises since a decade, have been opposing the guesthouse in the office premises and relocation of the same at any other location in the fastest growing Karimnagar town to maintain sanctity of the office.
