Ship detained

Staff Reporter

MUMBAI: The Coast Guard on Monday detained Denmark-flagged merchant vessel ‘Danicia Sunrise,' with an eight-member crew, here after intelligence inputs that the ship was carrying a big cache of arms and ammunition.

“But we found nothing,” Coast Guard sources told The Hindu. “Teams of the Intelligence Bureau, Navy, police, Coast Guard and the Anti-Terrorism Squad jointly interrogated the crewmembers and conducted the search,” Coast Guard personnel said. “The intelligence inputs proved to be wrong but the vessel has not been cleared. It is still detained. The interrogation is going on,” they said.
