NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Patil has condoled the death of Brigadier Sawai Bhawani Singh, the former Maharaja of Jaipur.
In her condolence message to his wife Padmini Devi, the President said: “Brigadier Bhawani Singh served the Indian Army and received numerous honours, including the second highest gallantry award, the Mahavir Chakra. He also served as the Adjutant of the prestigious President's Bodyguard from the mid 1950s to early 1960s. He was also known for his interest in the arts and their preservation.”
“The nation shall always remember his distinguished services as an Army officer and a diplomat. In his passing away, we have lost a distinguished personality,” she added.
