Sangeeta Janakulam to offer three courses A refundable deposit to be collected VISAKHAPATNAM: Noted music training organisation Sangeeta Janakulam will impart free training in three courses from May. The duration is for one, two, and five years respectively, according to its Kulapati I.V.L. Sastry. The one-year course in Music Appreciation will be conducted every Sunday from 6.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. at Sri Raghavendraswami Matham on Waltair Main Road. Identification of ragas and talas, six keertans each of Tyagaraja and Ramadasu, music lessons up to ‘alankaram', ‘Mantrapushpam', and other finer aspects will be taught. Admissions are open till April 24 between 6.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the venue. The classes will begin on May 8. For the two-year course in Devotional Music, admissions will be based on an audition test and interview on April 24 at the venue. The selected candidates have to attend classes at 9.30 a.m. at the guest house of Akondi Venkatrao at Door No. 49-24-45/1, Ramakrishna Nagar, every Sunday from May 8. The five-year course will be based on the syllabus for Diploma in Music/B.A (Music). Training will be imparted from 6.30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Mr. Venkatrao's guest house. The admissions for this course will be based on an interview at Sri Raghavendraswami Matham on April 24. Classes will begin on May 10. Though the classes would be conducted free of cost, the candidates should pay a deposit of Rs.300, which would be refunded after completion of the course, Mr. Sastry said. Candidates who withdraw midway would have to forfeit the amount, he stated. Limited seats There is no age limit and people, irrespective of religion and caste, are eligible to join the courses. There are only limited seats and selections will be based purely on merit. Applications will be available at the Matham in Ramnagar every Sunday till 8.30 a.m. They are also available at Door No. 49-24-45/1, opposite Sri Ramalingeswaraswami temple on Sankara Matham Road in Ramakrishnanagar.
