State's plan outlay likely to be fixed on May 5
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Planning Commission is likely to approve the plan outlay submitted by the State government for the current year in May first week.
The approval is likely to be given during Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's meeting with the Planning Commission headed by its deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, tentatively on May 5. This was conveyed to a delegation of senior officials led by Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad who made a presentation seeking higher central assistance to the State in view of the spree of welfare and developmental programmes being implemented.
The Plan panel officials who took note of the projections made by the State in different sectors are understood to have expressed concern over the non-compliance in certain areas like groundwater management and health sector related issues.
The panel members are understood to have advised the State to ensure that the expenditure under Rajiv Arogyasri was kept in manageable levels.
