Namakkal: District Collector and Election Officer S. Madumathi said that CCTV cameras would soon be installed at the single point counting centre for all the six Assembly segments in this district that is located at Vivekanandha Educational Institutions for women, Tiruchengode. She made this statement on Monday after reviewing security arrangements at the strong rooms where the electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been kept. According to her, three-tier security arrangement has been made for the college which is the only counting centre in the district. A total of 46 paramilitary personnel and 70 local policemen would take turns every two hours to guard the rooms, while a team of 20 policemen led by a DSP, an Inspector and five Sub-Inspectors would supervise the security arrangements, she added. In addition to an official of the tahsildar rank and two from the deputy tahsildar rank who would review security arrangements in every Assembly segment, a representative of the candidates could stay at the counting centre, she said. Other precautions and security arrangements to be made were also discussed with police and revenue officials.
