KURNOOL: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu has urged the Election Commission to take stringent action against the parties and individuals trying to vitiate the election atmosphere in Kadapa and Pulivendula constituencies. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he alleged that the ruling Congress and the YSR Congress Party leaders were ‘dumping' money to win the elections. He said the election was a life and death question for the Congress groups. Hence, they were leaving no stone unturned to win the election. He said if democracy was to be preserved, the election authorities should pursue those who had stacked money in their residences for distribution among voters. The sudden jump in liquor sales indicated the free money that was flowing into the area on account of the election. He urged the election authorities to create fear about law among the law breakers and protect democratic values. He wanted the police to deploy CRPF personnel for impartial polling.
