HUBLI: Employees of gram panchayats, porters and drivers of mini-goods vehicles took out a protest march here on Tuesday to press for their various demands. They staged a demonstration at the Mini Vidhana Soudha under the aegis of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), led by district president of the CITU R.H. Ayi and general secretary Mahesh Pattar, as well as office-bearers of their associations. While the gram panchayat employees demanded incentives, Provident Fund and grants for the panchayats, the porters called for revision of wages, proper pension, housing scheme, insurance, Provident Fund, regular supply of foodgrains and setting up of a labour welfare fund for them. The drivers had similar demands and also sought separate parking spaces.
