THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has protested against the DYFI bid to deface posters of the film actors who campaigned for UDF candidates in the Assembly elections. Mr.Chennithala said in a statement here on Tuesday that such acts showed lack of political dignity of the DYFI. Actors Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Salim Kumar, Jagadish, Capt. Raju, lyricists Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma and Anil Panachooran had been intimidated for campaigning for the UDF. Earlier, the late actor Murali and film-maker Lenin Rajendran had contested elections as LDF candidates. Kala Bhavan Mani had campaigned for the LDF in Kannur in the present elections. But the UDF had not wreaked vengeance on them. Instead of trying to win over rivals through their ideology, the CPI(M) was resorting to primitive means and this smacked of the party's despotic nature. This intolerance was a challenge to the democratic principles, he said.
