Upamanyu dominates

KOCHI: Mumbai's Upamanyu Dutta dominated the fourth day's action in the Cochin Shipyard-National Coastal Sailing Championship at Cherai on Tuesday, winning two of the day's three races.

Upamanyu, who won the championship's first two races, ended a five-round winless streak and won the day's first two races while Inland National champion Chintan Chhatbar took the third.

However, Pune's Vishnu Saravanan hung on to his overall lead, with 19 points from 10 races (with one discard), despite going through a bad day.

Placings (day four, three races): 1. Vishnu Saravanan (CESC, Pune, 4+5+6) 19 pts, 2. Upamanyu Dutta (RBYC, Mumbai, 1+1+3) 21 pts, 3. Chintan Chhatbar (MBYC, Mumbai, 3+2+1) 28 pts, 4. Vishnu Sujeesh (TNSA, Chennai, 8+3+2) 37 pts, 5. Shubham Pandey (CESC, 5+7+7) 50, 6. Vir Menon (RMYC, Chennai) 50 pts, 7. Aryaman Dutta (RBYC) 54 pts, 8. Shikhar Garg (NSS, Bhopal) 72 pts, 9.
