Court stays arrest of HCA office-bearers
Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Justice Ravi Shankar of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday stayed the arrest of the office-bearers of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) pursuant to the case registered against them according to the direction of the special court dealing with cases of Prevention of Corruption Act.
It may be recalled that pursuant to the complaint filed by a private individual, a case was registered against Shivlal Yadav, Arshad Ayub and others. The allegations were that large scale financial irregularities had taken place while constructing the cricket stadium at Uppal.
The accused in this criminal case approached the High Court and filed the present petition. They said they were not public servants and could not be proceeded or investigated by the authorities in the name of Prevention of Corruption Act. The judge directed the cases to be listed on Tuesday and stayed the arrest only.
