Exhibition of building materials begins

All under one roof:A visitor at ‘CONMAT 2011', an exhibition of construction materials, organised

COIMBATORE: A four-day exhibition of construction materials and equipment started at Suguna Auditorium here on Thursday.

Organised by the Coimbatore Civil Engineers' Association, the exhibition has 75 stalls displaying all materials required for constructing a house.

Awareness

According to the president of the association, P.K. Raja Shekar, the event will create awareness among the public and the construction professionals on some of the latest materials available in the market.

Kitchen chimneys, artificial sand, gates, doors, survey equipment, tiles, sanitaryware, interior materials, fly ash bricks, eco-friendly materials, software tools, and also electrical products are on display.

New product

One of the new products is a roof tile that does not need weathering treatment.

With increase in power cut, there is a huge thrust on solar power.

Several builders are suggesting to their clients to go in for solar water heaters.

Hence, there are several participants exhibiting solar water heaters and inverters, he says.

About 50,000 visitors are expected.

The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
