Warm welcome:Collector G. Vani Mohan being received by District Revenue Officer M. Mohan Raju on her assuming charge in Eluru on Friday.

ELURU: New Collector G. Vani Mohan who assumed charge on Friday, said she would strive for improvement of quality in delivery mechanism pertaining to implementation of several government-sponsored welfare programmes. She said she would lay focus on proper grounding and timely implementation of the schemes. “It is not the number that matters but the timely succour for the needy,” she said.

Ms. Vani said she would personally review the progress pertaining to public grievances which she received during the weekly Prajavani programmes on every Monday. People would come from every nook and corner of the district to the Collectorate to get their grievances redressed.

Such efforts would not fructify if there was no prompt follow up action from the higher ups, she said. Gender issues like dowry harassment and women trafficking, and the problems faced by tribal people in the agency would be on the top her agenda, she said.

Meanwhile, she had a formal interaction with the heads of all the departments after the take-over.
