KRISHNAGIRI/DHARMAPURI: Intermittent rain with gale lashed parts of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri district from Thursday night. The showers brought respite to people from the scorching heat for the past few weeks.
Dharmapuri town recorded high rainfall from last night. Due to this, the main thoroughfares such as Head Post Office Road, Arumuga Achari Street, Nethaji By-pass road, Mohamed Ali Club Road, Chinnasamy Naidu Street, Rajagopal Goundar Park, and Four Road Junction remained flooded.
Water entered shops and homes in low-lying areas.
The rain with strong winds lasted for more than four hours in parts of Dharmapuri district from Manjavadi Kanavai to Odasalpatti Koot Road on Friday afternoon. Slight showers occurred in many parts of Dharmapuri town in the evening.
Rainfall recorded till 8 am on Friday in Dharmapuri district (in mm) was Dharmapuri town and Hogenakkal 52, Pennagaram 40, Marandaalli 19, Palacode 12, Sugar mill 12, Kesarkuli Dam 26, Nagavathy Dam 25, Panchapalli Dam 10, Eeachampadi Dam 5 and Thoppur Dam 5.
Rains in fintervals
Intermittent rains were recorded in many parts of Krishnagiri district from Thursday night. Denkanikottai, Thalli and Hosur areas experienced rain with thundershowers for the whole night on Thursday.
Shoolagiri town and surroundings also experienced rains with thunderstorm.
Rainfall recorded till 8 a.m. on Friday Krishnagiri district in mm was Thalli 100, Shoolagiri 30, Hosur 29, Anchetti 12, Krishnagiri 7.
